my frony fenders are a little soft on the bottom corners.
and have a few dings here and there.
is it better to go with a reman fender or have the body shop weld in patches and straighen the dings.

I looked for six months and found brand new GM fenders still in the box never opened.Cost me a arm and a leg, looked at them through the side of the box. After I got home and opened them up found them to have buckles in the stampping and dings. They look like fenders that were not good enough for a car,so they made it to the parts department. Not happy.I would just fix yours and save yourself the money.I hope they fit better than they look.

Stay far far away from repo parts at all cost.....Much better to fix waht you have.

I don't understand this? Every aftermarket panel I have bought has fit pretty damn good with minor tweaking here and there. I guess all the original panels just fit absolutely perfect out of the box... V8TV.com did a 68 or 69 and used fenders from Paddock and they fit fine. Kevin checks in on this board from time to time so maybe he will see this message and respond.

I can tell you that so far I'm not impressed with the new GM fenders for the price I paid.Just seems like a bad stamp job.Maybe I just got some bad ones, that would be my luck.As far as after market ones I can't see they would be any worse than these.I'm praying they atleast fit good.

its not that the repo parts dont fit well its the fact that the tolerances were not good back then like today so you just have to work them around a little bit.

I would just repair, the bottom of my 69's were pretty rough, so I bought to patch panel which cost me like 70 bucks then 15 for some bondo and they look good :]

As with any panel, if you want perfection you have to work at it. you will not find a perfect Gm or aftermarket panel. the only reason to replace OE metal with after market is Damage or rust. every after market panel I have used needs tweeking. Even the high dollar paint jobs have a skim coat of filler on them, in the end if you dont get in a hurry it will look great. I say..... fix the fenders and use them! but if you choose to purchase the repro fenders. Remember, either way you will have work to do!

Hold a repro in one hand and a factory original in the other. The factory original has so much more weight it is amazing. Try to fix your originals if at all possible.
