my dad has an agco garden tractor (not just a riding mower, also has a pto for optional machinery) and I was tilling my garden up today, and it started sputtering and coughing & blowin black smoke out the pipe. I stopped and pulled the plugs (V2 (instead of V8)design) and they were covered in gas and completely fouled out. Now I put a fresh set of plugs in, and it did the same thing to the new set. It's a new air cleaner. Also, no matter where I put the throttle, it wouldn't idle up or down, so I assume it's getting too much fuel & not enough air. Does anyone have any ideas to check. When I took the air cleaner off, the fuel just ran across the top surface that the air cleaner sits on. And it's not the choke, it is operating just fine. Thanks guys.

Stuck float needle valve? I'd take the fuel bowl off and blow some carb cleaner in there.
