Hey guys, I'm gonna be pulling off the front a arm assem, along with all the disk brake components, to prepare everything for powder coating. Can someone please help where / how to start the brakedown. Thanks

get a coil spring compressor to remove the front springs or do a search on this site for some other crafty ideas. once thats done the dangerous part is over and all you have is nuts and bolts. just be sure to remember to label all the parts and take lots of pictures so you can remember how everything goes back.

A GM service manual would be the biggest asset you could have to do this job. All the R & R procedures are in it along with the torque specs. Of course the Team will be here to help answer questions along the way. Detroit Iron sells the manuals on cd and Helm Inc sells the original paper manuals. eBay is another good source to get used manuals cheaper. I have some used manuals for sale but none for the 69 model year.
The spring removal isn't as hard as some would suggest. I remove them without a compressor but it will take a good spring compressor to get a new spring back in. Also make sure it is indexed properly in the lower control arm.

Manual would help...... the first thing I'd do, after setting car (frame) on GOOD stands is remove cotter pins from both upper and lower ball joints, loosen the nuts about 3 or 4 full turns and WACK the spindle where it goes through. This will release the ball joint from the A-arm. Then remove brake calipers and outer tie rod ends. Then remove the shock and use a spring compressor to compress spring. Put a floor jack under A-arm then take the lower ball joint nut the rest of the way off, lower arm and remove spring. Then remove arms and spindle.
