: 68 SS396 Horn button

Did 68 chevelles use the "SS" or the "SS396" on the horn button. I have seen them both ways and was wondering which was right.

Early build cars had the "SS396" emblem, later cars "SS" only. If your car's build date is after February, it probably had the SS emblem originally, later than mid-March, it almost certainly had the SS.

BTW the shroud on an SS396 would be black. SS396 cars with other than black interiors still had a black bezel and steering column/wheel. Only the Non SS396 cars got the full color treatment where the instrument bezel, steering column, and steering wheel/components would match the interior color.

This car has the correct dash for a 138 car and an "other than black" interior. There a myriad of little incorrect items on the car so it is not 100% stock but is a nice example.
