I just recently purchased an OEM 4 spd floor console for my 66 and was wondering if anyone has the specifics on where to mount it. The car came with a 4 spped already installed and I will be ordering new carpet as well. Any suggestions on carpeting ? TIA

Buy or fab the brackets to mount the console on the floor and attach them to the console. Trial fit the console and make sure your shifter handle clears the shifter cutout throughout all the shifting throws. With the console placement determined, tack weld the mounting brackets to the floor. Note that there is a difference in shifter handles for console and non-console applications. You probably should get the correct handle installled before fitting the console.

When I did mine years ago, I did not have the trans installed so I just centered the console shifter hole over the hole in the floor and then adjusted the console (left and right) to be centered on the trans/driveshaft hump.

I noticed two little dimples on the front of the floor tunnel on my Elky before I cut it out for the TKO.
they are spaced about 1-1/2 to 2" apart in front of the shifter opening.

Might be a good place to start when you get the brackets

Thanks , I'll look for them. I just thought maybe there was a template available to use as a guide............
