Hi guys, i have a problem thats been bugging the crap out of me. I have a 72 chevelle with a 350 turbo tranny, I did have the stock horseshoe shifter and broke two aftermarket linkages.. so then i changed my setup, now i have a hurst ratchet shifter and put used an original shifter linkage(thinking this would fix my problem) needless to say I have broke another linkage and dont know whats causing it. Any ideas would be great, thanks.

I used to have the same problem with an aftermarket shifter in my 56 chevy. You have to make sure that the cable is not binding AT ALL! I was told that you need to have a nice curve with no harsh turns that could bind the cable. I actually had to redrill my tranny hump in a different location so that there was more of a sweeping motion with the cable and not such a tight turn coming up through the tunnel.
