I just bid on a 69 chevelle on E-Bay this past Thursday 9-30-04 and placed a deposit on it.
I contacted your web-site concerning the history of the vehicle.
Al Mckenzie referred me to you guys for more information.
The vin# is 136379B412888
The Body by Fisher tag has the following information;
ST69-13637-BAL-29264T BDY
TR-790-50B TNT
7E-6-B-L219242
1)The car is black with a black vinyl top.
2)It has the SS Emblems on front, back and side panels.
3)The Engine is a rebuilt 396 big block.
4)Good condition inside and out,no rust problems.
5)Automatic Transnission, colunm shift and front bench seat.
Does this car sound legitimate?

This should be posted in the Tag Team forum. Just to give you some idea, there is no way to tell from the VIN or trim tag if it is a real SS, except if it has 72 or 76 as the paint code, yours has 50B. On 69 and newer Chevelles, SS was an option. Good luck with your search and WELCOME to the BEST site on the net.

not exactly legitimate but interesting for sure, the trim tag decodes as a dover white with black vinyl top, white parchment and black interior. some SS features to consider whether they were always there or someone installed them recently:
12 bolt rear differential (most fakes still have a 10 bolt)
front disc brakes
turbo 400 transmission
and there are other details if need be, but if you consider those three hurdles, somebody went thru alot of effort and expense, in the end if they totally covered all the bases it would be a difficult call to make with out some documentation. the paint and trim combo is not your typical car out there these days and makes it kinda unique IMO.
