I am converting my 72 Malibu automatic to a TKO-600. I am trying to figure out if my hooker competition headers will fit with the Mechanical linkage "Z-Bar" setup. If any of you guys out there have completed one of these conversions, please let me know. Here are some details...

Bracket supplied with the conversion kit for the z-bar to mount to the frame will not bolt up anywhere... I read somewhere that I may have to weld it in place??

My whole reason for all this is... is the mechanical linkage easy enough to do, and will it fit with my headers OR should I go with the Hydraulic kit that Keisler offers???
I don't want to spend 650 bucks if the Mechanical linkage will be a fairly easy install and most importantly... work.

Okay, scratch the part about the bracket not having holes, I found the ones I need on top of the frame, just need to tap them for the bolts provided.

Still need to know if the headers will work. This is my first experience with a big block and everything looks soooo close :(.

I ran hooker super comps with the 2" primaries and it cleared my z-bar.

PS: It doesnt matter what manual trans you have, the linkage stuff is the same.
