Hi guys, I need some advice on my fuel lines. My car is a '70 SS396 with a mild 468 cu in engine (10 1/4:1 comp, .595 lift cam, 850 Holley on an Edelbrock Torker II intake, headers...). It will only see street usage when I get it back on the road. I am doing an ameteur frame off resto and I am trying to decide what to do with my fuel lines.

The original lines measure 3/8" (main) and 1/4" (return). The gas tank pick-up in the car only had one port when I bought it so I have never used the return line and this hasn't caused any problems that I am aware of.

I am trying to put the car back together correctly but don't want to spend any $$ I don't have to. These lines are $65 and $100 each new (O.M. vs stainless). I am not trying to build a show winning 100% correct car, just a very nice driver.

First, should I reinstall a 1/4" return line.

Second, should I replace the line(s) or just clean them up and paint them.

Third, is the 3/8" line big enough for this engine.

I am replacing all of the brake lines with stainless lines but I don't know if fuel lines are as likely to rust from the inside as brake lines are.

Thanks in advance for your help.
