I`m getting this chevelle from a friend, as soon as I get a rearend for it, and I was able to go out there today and write down the trim tag. H ere it all that I found,

ST 70 13637 KAN 455067 BDY
TR 790 25 A PNT
12E 06011 L

I tried to see if the engine but all I could find out was that it is a 1970 LS5 W/MT. Tthe nubers look like there were restamped after the block was decked. It`s so grungy I could`nt tell. I thought the VIN was suppost to be stamped on the block too? Anyway, if someone could give me any info about the trim tag, that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks Dale. This is a dumb question but are any of the numbers the VIN numbers? My old 65` have the VIN number on a tag in the door jam. Thanks.

VIN number on a 70 is on the top of dash at the base of the windshield on the drivers side.

Your VIN should be something like:
136370K'123456' where the '123456' is the vehicle sequence build number. See http://www.chevellestuff.com/70velle/trim_tag_decoding.htm for examples.
