: 1 wire alt

My project was missing an alternator when I got it. Seeing how the wiring is old and should be redone in some areas I'm tossing around the idea of just slapping in a 1 wire alt to clean up the bay a little bit.

Has anyone else out there done this? What did you get it off of? Is there one alt in particular that will bolt right up with no modifications? Should I get a chevelle alt. bracket or something else?

Thanks all,

Kyle

I bought a chrome one-wire 105 amp alternator (10si) from an E-Bay shop named DB Electrical for 69.95 plus shipping. Normal price was 99.95 but it was on sale. I know a lot of guys on here don't like the one-wire route but it works for me. I have replaced all the stock gauge panel with aftermarket gauges so no need for wiring to dash indicator lights and such.

I was planning on adding aftermarket gauges. My dash just as the dummy lights. I was just wondering what year/model to tell the part store on what works easiest to put on the '72 with little to no modificatios.

Check out summit racing. they have some good alternators and you can get a nice billit aluminum bracket for around 60 bucks. Makes it look good and has a better adjustment than the old stock. You can also ask their tech department on what you need.
