This 697 bellhousing came in a box of parts with my Chevelle. I was going to use it on my big block, but now that I have cleaned it up I'm having second thoughts. There appears to be severe heat cracking of the aluminum. I don't think it will handle too much stress since aluminum gets brittle when it is overheated. Am I just being too cautious or do I need to look for a new bellhousing?

I do not think those are cracks. It is just the imperfections in the molding process.

The bell I'm using right now looks like that and the other two in the garage do too! Think it is like stated above imperfections in the mold.:)

Thanks for the quick replies. It is good to know that the bellhousing is OK.
