All right, gents, I'm trying to find a neutral start switch (or neutral safety switch, which I guess is what they call them for autos) for our 1967 with a four speed. To clarify, I'm looking for the switch that goes up under the dash and connects to the clutch pedal so that you can't start the car without the pedal pushed down to the floor.

All the online catalogs I keep seeing show them for '68 and up, maybe some '65s. I don't see any switches for '66 or '67 - not even on eBay! What do I need to be looking for, or is it all that much trouble to adapt one from a different year of Chevelle? Or, was it just some standard kind of switch that was used on all the GM 4spd cars for the mid-60s and I can use one from a 'vette or a Bel Air or an Impala or whatever.

Much appreciate the help. Need to pass tech for Pinks All Out in May. Anyway, it just kind of makes me nervous that it's not on there. I want one.

that's because they were never on the car so shouldn't be applicable in your tech inspection.

I looked for one awhile back too, then realized they weren't made then. Just plugged the two purple w/white tracer wires together and called it good. While you could adapt anything to fit, I like the option to run the starter and get the car off the road should I have a problem.

Okay, so there's no factory app. I may just put one on there anyway for safety's sake (I like to overdo it like that). Anyone have suggestions on what I might adapt? Anyone tried this yet?

You might be able to use one from a 1969 Chevelle. It has an arm that connects with a stud on the clutch peddle to activate the switch. It's pretty simple.
