Is there a company that makes a heater box that has the blower motor mounted on the inside of the car? I don't want AC, but I want to smooth my firewall, but keep the heater...

Thanks

Well, just thinking about that scenario, you'd lose your glovebox, have to move the blower motor there, which may or may not fit if you modded it to still blow air past the heater core. Another issue is the heater hoses....since those come out the firewall, those copper lines would have to be cut, re-soldered on and turned straight to allow the hoses to go through the void where the blower motor used to be.

The long of the short, lots of work....more than I'd be willing to do just for a smooth firewall. Although I like the look, unless it's a show car, I just don't see the usefulness of it. I personally like to be able to work on stuff easily, so I like easy access to my wiring(being an electrician, that's a no-brainer), etc. On a smooth firewall, you'd also have the electrical issue moving some engine harness wires.

Yeah it was just a thought. It looked like those vintage air units have the blower molded to the heater box like late model cars. As for the electrical I just have the one wire going to the squirrel cage, so that shouldn't be too bad. I may call vintage to see if they will do a box with no evaporator or condenser kit... OR just a total heater delete.. I just hate to lose that function for defrost...

search some of my threads under "american graffiti". i bought a panel from them a couple years ago. not sure if they are still around. got rid of the dead AC suitcase and kept the blower and heater.
