Guys, I'm getting ready to get serious about buying a '70 LS-6 car. Where's the best place to get educated? Is the a buyers guide that's better that the rest of them? Maybe a website that gives all the info that needs to be known? I've a perfect 69 L-78 so I guess I have at least a pretty good clue of where the difference will be but still knowledge is power!
One thing I'm a little worried about is the re-making of build sheets and so on. I know of a car that I think was common knowledge to be a clone a couple years back that all of a sudden has build sheets [???]
Are build sheets being faked? Any info will be appreciated. Anybody know of a good REAL car available? Jim

You won't find a better resource than Team Chevelle in my opinion. No Need to buy a book or find another web site.. Use the Search function here and you will find tons of detail info. and ask questions in the appropriate forums.. there is no reason at all that you or anyone else should ever, not have the information you need to buy a Chevelle of any model or year. No need to ever get screwed, we have members across the US and Canada and beyond.. all willing to share info. and even look at a car if need be.
As for asking where a good car is.. I would just Post an add in the Classifieds here at TC, as doing so here in the forums is generally frowned upon.. Yes, Build sheets and Proteco Plates and window stickers and sheep are being cloned these days!

Alright Mike, I'll start right here...I'm guessing differences between a 396 car and a LS-6 are would be limited to:
Tachometer.. different redline?
Carb # ...what is it?
Alternator... deep groove pulleys? Crank pulley different?
All smog cars?
Dist and Vacuum advance...
What else? What else was specific to LS-6 ONLY cars? Certain options only? Did they ALL have tachs? Did they ALL have certain suspensions? Certain interior groups...sombody fill me in? Were they all made at the same factory? What are the right questions to ask?

The only way to document a LS6 is via build sheet or protect-o-plate. All plants built them, gauges/tach were optional (although redline is different), interiors were standard Chevelle Malibu. If a build sheet or POP isn't present with the car, there's probably a better chance it isn't original. Check my Chevellestuff.com site for quite a few build sheets from *standard* SS Chevelles vs. LS5 vs. LS6 optioned cars to see some differences.
