I have a "corvette style" master cylinder, which is relatively new. It has been on the car for about two years . However the car has seen very few miles since it has been in the body shop and now a frame off resto. I am putting the car back together and was painting the booster when the master started leaking from the rear piston area after a week or so. I am not sure if this is normal because of the level position I had it sitting at, or something else. I would assume something os wrong with it, but I am not sure. Iwas looking for some advise before I place the MC on my cleanly painted booster. Is it rebuildable or am I better off with a new one? - Dan

I wouldn't take a chance with it. If it is leaking out the seal in the rear, then something's wrong with it. Is it a new or rebuilt? I always try to go with new on items like these, including water pumps, & brake cylinders. And if you have painted the booster, and it gets any brake fluid on it at all, it will peel instantly.
