: Front seat belts bolt on top of carpet?

Just a quick question. I've searched this forum but can't find it spelled out, and certainly not for a 68. The seat mounts are hidden using the "T" cuts, but what about the front seat belt bolts? Do they just go on top of the carpet or do you cut some kind of flap to hide them?

Thanks

There is a plastic cover that goes over the hole in the seat belt mount...

Look on ebay you will see them...

Find and mark the belt mounting hole. Here's how to make a carpet hole punch. Get a 6~8" piece of 1/2" metal conduit and use a grinder to bevel (sharpen) one end of it. Heat the conduit with a propane torch and punch it through the carpet where you marked it. This will give you a nice round hole, and the heat will melt the fibers so they won't fray. The belts bolt into the holes and the belt cover covers the bolts.

Thanks all. Nice tip Bill. Thanks for the link too!

Besides a cig lighter, what is the best way to "seal" the "T"-cuts to prevent fraying?

I would think a soldering iron would work...

I used one of those long "fire starter" lighters, easier to maneuver than a Bic and you won't have hot nylon drip on your hands. Soldering gun won't do well, the nylon sticks to the gun tip.
