Help me out here, Edelbrock has written me back and directed me to this web site. Well here goes:
Subject: W USA 2288 J6 Carb, Edelbrock Torker II
I just purchase a 1968 Chevelle vin# 136378B155974. Please provide me with
any and all information you may have on this vehicle and what the specs are
on the above parts installed on this vehicle.
Also were these parts installed as part of a total performance package? What upgrades would you recommend to this vehicle. It has a slap stick auto shifter B & M with factory rear. No shift kit but, vehicle has a lot of torque.
Thanks

VIN
1 ~ Chevrolet
36 ~ V8 Malibu (engine size not given in the 1968 VIN, only that it's a V8).
37 ~ 2 door sport coupe
8 ~ 1968
B ~ Baltimore
155974 ~ sequence number - 55,974th Chevelle from Baltimore in 1968.
I don't think this is what they're after however as it really doesn't tell much.
What size is the engine? Post the numbers/letters on the pad in front of the passenger side head.
What transmission? Manual/automatic?
What rear end ratio? Is it a posi unit?
Any other modifications to the engine such as ignition or headers?
How do you plan to use the car? Daily driver, part time drag racer, corner carver, weekend cruizer? Depending on use, a Torker could be the right or wrong intake choice.
The body tag on the firewall will give you the interior and paint color but only a buildsheet or protect-o-plate will give you the exact engine size/hp, original trans type and rear end ratio.
If performance is what you're after, check the *Performance* forum after finding out exactly what you have.

First, thanks for your response to this neophyte.
This being my first classic/hot rod I am not sure what I want to do. It has enough kick to snap your head back but I am a family man with a hobby. Therefore, I would like to explore what I can do to the car and make the choices from there. It is very fun to drive with a lot of top end but does not get out of the hole the way I would like.
350 crate engine I was told, auto Trans with 3 speed B & M shifter, 3 inch exhaust with stock exhaust manifold
I would like to use the vehicle as a dual weekend cruiser and street rod for my hobby.
