Looking at a 12 bolt to buy. Has the Code CC follower by an H then the date code. Any Idea what the H means. This is a 1968 axel assembly
Thanks, Jim

Did you verify the year from the casting date next to the cover opening?
Looks like this(M-D-Y)

Yes the casting date is a 1968 from the carrier & the casting number of the carrier indicates a 68 carrier The casting number seems to be a chevy casting number Any way to tell by the casting number?. The ratio is a 3:73 (Only variefied by turning the rear wheel and counting the appoximated rotations of the drive shaft). The code Is CC then some space then the H then some space then the code for the month and day ( 11 05 ) and plant (B 2). The H Does not appear that it could be a B (But maybe it is) I understand that if it were a B that would indicated the build source to be a Buick. Anyother way to determine if this might be origonaly a buick axel or somehow buick axel housing got on a Chevy carrier. Thanks, Jim
