Getting ready to do the carpets in my 66 cutty.
mine is a no console, 3speed on the floor.

What is the best way to locate and cut the shifter hole in the carpet without puttin the hole in the wrong spot?

Any trick to this?

I would remove the shifter and install the carpet without cutting it.

Then I would start from the center of the transmission hump hole and cut about 1/2 of it out.

Then I would install the trim that goes on top of the carpet and secure it to the hump.

Then I would remove the excess carpet material using the trim as a guide for the knife.

The re-install the shifter, the rubber boot and then re-install the chrome trim.
