was wondering if someone could help me, thinking about buying a 69 SS chevelle and the guy showed me his build sheet which is in deporable condition, does anyone have a build sheet or that they could share so i can see if any of these numbers match, also trying to match to my 70's and they dont seem to be the same, also cowl tag says code 59 and the car is white, and the seats are 785. what is the code for black buckets in 1969, my 70's are 756 but i dont think 69 black buckets were that number, can anyone help. also the car ws built in baltimore does the sequence number also start at 100001 as it does for other plants? thx steel

steel,

For examples of build sheets, go to Fred Aldrich's site (http://members.core.com/~faldrich/) or Dale McIntosh's site (http://www.chevellestuff.com/index.htm).

Code 59 is Frost Green, so the car has been repainted white. 785 is Medium Green vinyl bucket seats; the code for black buckets is 756, same as your 70. I believe 69 Baltimore Chevelles started the VIN sequence at 300001, but I could be mistaken.

Hope that helps smile.gif

I think you're confusing Fisher Body unit numbers (on the firewall body plate) with VIN assembly sequence numbers. In 1969, the VIN assembly sequence numbers started with 300001 for all Chevelles at all plants and 1972 started with 500001. All other 64-71 Chevelles started with 100001

Body numbers were assigned by GM when the car was ordered to be built. I've seen body numbers of later in the model year run with numbers LESS than those earlier in the year. Body numbers on the firewall body plate aren't really a good indicator of which number car it was off the assembly line - that's where the VIN comes into play.
