I've always been impressed with the depth of technical information dispensed on this site.:hurray: Here's a good one for you.
My 64 SS was assembled in the last few days of production at the Freemont plant if not on the last day.
I need a new windshield wiper switch. I located a repro on ebay and purchased it. The plug pattern on the new switch did not match the pattern on the old.
I sent a photo showing the two switches to the seller. He replied that he provided GM Part 1993632. The switch I had is GM Part 1993665. He advised 665 was the 2nd design and only used in the last month of production. Apparently, the switch and harness for the switch was changed. He then said the "65 switch would work but they changed the dash". I'm not sure if this means the 65 switch will plug in to my harness but not fit in the dash or exactly what he meant.
Can anyone tell me if GM Part 1993665 is also the 1965 2 speed wiper switch? I believe searching for a 65 2 speed switch will be eaiser than searching a part number. I'm not familiar with the 65 dash. Is the wiper switch basically the same?
I have problems believing the switch they used in the final month of 64 is different than what they used in 65. If so, locating a wiper switch only used for 30 days will be a tough one!!!!!
Thanks for any help!
Tom
