: El Camino Doors, Year?

I have a pair of El Camino doors I obtained with a truck load of other Chevelle parts. I had to buy the entire load to get what I wanted.

I think the doors are 71 or 72 since there were other parts from those years in the load as well. But I'm not sure.

How can I correctly date them? I plan to clean them up and sell them.

Thanks,
Walter A.

El Camino door are interchangeable from 1969 to 1972. 1968 doors look and fit the same, but the inside door lock release is at the back of the door whereas the later series moved it forward about 11 inches.
All these el Camino doors are easily identified by the window frame that curves from the door up to the vent window and then down. Post sedan doors look very much the same, except the window frame is 90 degree corner not a curve.

Not necessarily true. Elky 68m doors are unique. The inside lock button is near the back edge of the door. Then in 69, the lock was moved forward about 8"closer to the center of the door. The 70-72 doors are slightly different. The later doors have a steel girder inside for side crashes. The latches are different too, in the way they lock. Not sure when it started, but the later doors, you would have to hold the button in on the door to lock it from the outside. Also SS, and non SS doors are different. No molding studs on the SS doors, except the 68 doors. They have the SS above the rocker molding studs, like Chevelle's have.

Thanks for all the fast answers. I now have enough info to properly list them for sale once cleaned up a little.

Anyone know the location of the power door lock actuators on the door? Pictures and/or measurements would be great. For a 70 El Camino. Is it a two or three bolt actuator?
Thanks,
