I have my 1967 velle at the painter. She is getting painted back to original (royal plum). The firewall, door jambs, and trunk jambs have all been painted. My question is on the back between the taillights, is that black or the same color of the car. It was black when I bought the car back in 1987 and so I told the painter it should be black. Now looking all over the internet I am seeing alot of cars that painted the same color of the car. It was the Malibu trim not an SS but she is going to have a big block so really not looking for original that way. Also what about the dash. Should that be black (the interior will be black and was) or should I go with the color? She will have tinted windows if that would make a difference in looks. So I guess what do you all think which is going to look better??? Any help and cool ideas greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance

correct for a non ss car would be the body color between the tail lights. Black is correct for the dash on all. As far what I think will look better, on a plum colored car id go black on dash and between the lights if it were mine.

x3. The black for the rear and the dash is not gloss (if you want it to look stock) but more of a satin black. On the rear the blacks runs up to the trunk gutter so you don't see a strip of plum paint from the rear in between the horizontal bright trim pieces.

Top of dash is flat black for glare purposes, although there's not much showing on top. Below the dash pad is 60%. (from what I know)

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it and I am going to go with the black in between the taillights and black on the dash. Maybe one of these days I will figure out how to put some pics up.
Thanks again!!!

Top of the dash between the pad and the windshield should be interior color just flat.
I agree that the black on the rear just plain looks good.
