Hey guy's, is there a site that I can go to for checking an oldsmobile engine. My brother in law is coming over later with the numbers from an engine he just got. It is supposed to be a 455 from a 69 Cutlass, not a 442. Just a plain Cutlass. I didn't know if that was possible, so I'm looking for a sight that I can check Oldsmobile numbers.
Thanks,
Billy

Try www.442.com (http://www.442.com) . It should have "C" heads if it's a '69 non-442 engine.

You could not get a 455 in a Cutlass in 1969 unless it was a Hurst Olds

Yep, that's right! The ONLY Cutlass body (A-body) to receive a 455 PRIOR to 70 was the HURST Olds. The first year for ANY Cutlass (other than a HURST Olds) to get the 455 was 70, and the last year for a 455 Olds engine was 1976 (I think 1976 was also the last year for the Pont and Buick 455s).
The first 455 WAS available in the full size Olds cars beginning in 68. It was even available in a 2bl version!
