: Upgrade gas pedal on 67 velle
htm Apr 12th, 09, 10:00 PM Has anyone changed or upgraded the gas pedal on there chevelle, the old rod linkage is so sloppy and the stupid pedal keeps popping of the studs I would like to install a nice close to stock looking pedal and cable kit is ther something out there ???
Tod Apr 12th, 09, 10:11 PM I got a Lokar pedal and cable kit on my 66'...looks good and works great!
cobaltchev67 Apr 12th, 09, 10:25 PM I also put a Lokar pedal/throttle cable assembly on my '67. Works great. I suggest putting a pedal stop in the floor(I used a bolt and a couple of nuts) since I read another guy pulled the cable out of its crimp. I'm guessing he had it at full throttle and just kept pushing the pedal.
With the pedal stop you shouldn't have a problem, just cheap insurance it won't. I also set mine up so the nitrous microswitch comes on just before the pedal stop.
htm Apr 12th, 09, 10:36 PM Great thanks I will check them out, do you guys remember if it is a universal kit or is it by application :) thanks again
cobaltchev67 Apr 12th, 09, 10:53 PM The pedal kit is car specific, look at Summit for '66-67 Chevelle. I believe the throttle cable kit is generic, as is the cable mounting kit.
wills65 Apr 12th, 09, 10:55 PM I used a Lokar cable and a pedal assembly from a first gen Camaro ('67 IIRC). The pedal bolts right up the firewall inside the car. The cable requires that you drill a small hole in the firewall for it to come through and connect to the pedal assembly. You can buy the pedal on Rickscamaros.com and the cable can be bought anywhere, I got mine from Summit. Part number on Rickscamaros.com is PT-92. The picture shows just the rod, but it is complete with the rod, spring, and pedal pad. I think it looks pretty "stock".
htm Apr 12th, 09, 10:57 PM I am on ther now searching I found the pedal kit fits in same hole that the original one goes through ? then I have to find the cable, so I guess my final question is did you guys get the direct fit replacement and the universal cable or did you get the one that is totally universal and mounts to the floor
cobaltchev67 Apr 13th, 09, 2:12 AM I bought these:

But I bought them in a kit off eBay, not Summit.....I thought you'd be able to see them on Summit and maybe shop elsewhere for a better price. I think I paid $250 for everything which is a little less than individually on Summit.
tommycomfort Apr 13th, 09, 12:05 PM I have the universal Lokar pedal in my 64 wagon and it is "OK", but just installed the direct fit in my 66 project and am very happy with it so far. Price if very comparable if I remember right.
Tom
Thanks to everyone I know what I am going to do, Special thanks to colboltchev67 for the extra work, I am going with that set up just like you suggested :)
Chris R Apr 15th, 09, 3:14 AM I am supprised no one has mentioned this already. If you search on this subject for the pre 67 cars. You should find some good info on using mid 70s Nova and the similiar body style cars (x body I think). They use bolt in cable setup that fits right into the older linkage operated cars.
