: No Racing Today, But...
OutCast Apr 12th, 09, 8:59 PM Got halfway to the Victoria track before I got the rain-out call. :( I really wanted to do some tnt'ing before coming down on the 24 th.
So on the way back home, took a detour out of city limits to an area known as the Wastelands. Couple miles of paved logging road out in the sticks. :D
As I was unloading it on the side of the road, a Toyota 4X4 popped out of the bush, and it was one of the clean-up guys from work out 4-by-ing.
I took him for a little ride.
All I can say is this thing comes unglued when I get on it. I think it's got the same kind of power now, as it did last year on the bottle. And I didn't even open the bottle up.
So I'm headed back out to the shop to re-adjust my rockers. A couple of the poly locks came loose and backed off the valve setting. I'll get it right yet, but for now I've got the same kind of grin plastered on my face as Kevin did after his first ride with his new powertrain.
This getting out and thrashing on stuff is a ton of fun. :)
FRYNTYR Apr 12th, 09, 9:06 PM Great news John,,,,, :hurray: I see 10's on bottle in your future.
1966malibu Apr 12th, 09, 9:09 PM Sorry to hear about the rain-out, but we TCNW people understand . There was a bunch of us all bummed out from not being able to run on Friday . I am glad to hear the new combo is working well .
See you on the 24th :beers:.
TOG
66SSFan Apr 12th, 09, 9:10 PM That sounds like great fun John. I have an extra set of new comp 7/16 poly locks you can have if needed. They came with my new rockers and I just ordered a pair of Comp stud girdles that come with the longer locks so I won't be using the others.
Kevin R Apr 12th, 09, 9:41 PM Hey John Im still smiling:D I cant wait to line up next to the Punisher:thumbsup: If you feel the need to spray against me that's OK its actually a complement:yes:
OutCast Apr 12th, 09, 10:37 PM Adjustments all made. Running just perfectly again. Seems to hold best if I turn the allen bolt clockwise while cracking the 5/8 nut counter-clockwise against it.
Thanks for the offer, Mike. We'll see how these things hold a tune and go from there.
From the sounds of your new setup, Kevin, I'll be needing all the juice I can throw at it just to keep up with you...but we'll have to go motor to motor the first time to see how close...or far apart...we are. :D
66 Buick Special Apr 12th, 09, 10:44 PM Sounds like a blast John!:beers:
Glad to hear she's running top notch!
gotago Apr 12th, 09, 11:00 PM Glad she's back together and running John:thumbsup: I should have a package to you in a couple of weeks with your box o speed stuff and a little something I picked up for you at Bragg.;)
OutCast Apr 12th, 09, 11:18 PM Sounds great, Mark. I love getting stuff in the mail...as long as it's not window-mail.
Brettd85 Apr 13th, 09, 12:46 AM Glad things are going well. So maybe I missed it. What was the conclusion? Everything ok? Do we think something went through the engine?
Dave Apr 13th, 09, 12:50 AM He's being elusive on that subject.
kettbo Apr 13th, 09, 1:12 AM He's being elusive on that subject.

Yeah............right.;)
So what'd Ya do to get er back together there Johnny boy?:D
OutCast Apr 13th, 09, 11:34 AM After much theorizing and hypothesizing the conclusions made were inconclusive. Included in the conclusions were the theories of some small softer than iron, harder than aluminum matter entered cylinder #7 at a high rate of speed. It then opened a jumbo sized can of whoopass on top of said piston, before tagging spark plug electrode and sending porcelain chunks into orbit. Once completing it's task, it likely exited via exhaust valve into the pristine oxygen laden British Columbia morning sunshine.
After dialogue with select covert ops agents, it was confirmed that a slight surgery to top of piston would remedy any future concerns and render piston serviceable until such time as greater consequences prevail. Test capsule was returned to original state, and subjected to rigorous and abusive clandestine testing at a secret test facility.
All field testing provided satisfactory results. The module appears functional and serviceable in it's current state. We will maintain observation on unit with field agents on a go forward basis, paying attention to any dereliction of duty.
Final conclusion : Conclusively inconclusive.
Case closed. 041309/68PUN454

OutCast Apr 13th, 09, 1:21 PM ...John said a lot without really saying anything!...
It's what they teach you at the car salesman academy.
John, if you are gonna make it down to bremerton on the next weekend it's open, let me know and I will hook up with you and give you those valve covers.
That would be great, Kyle. Planning on the 24/25 if the weather holds.

Brettd85 Apr 13th, 09, 2:21 PM Very creative! Gotta be the BC/Canadian grass...

OutCast Apr 13th, 09, 3:07 PM So you still have no idea what happened?:)
Au contraire, mon frere.
Something happened. :)

Oh you gotta spill it now John.................
BTW didja ever put them 'Punisher' emblems on?
dreis454 Apr 14th, 09, 1:58 PM you think by not answering that we're gonna forget?
gotago Apr 14th, 09, 2:23 PM Maybe Janet finally got him:eek:
66SSFan Apr 14th, 09, 2:42 PM I don't think there are any answers guys, who knows what got in there.
66 Buick Special Apr 14th, 09, 2:54 PM I'm thinking it was a Kokanee twist top.;)
OutCast Apr 14th, 09, 2:57 PM You guys should be working for the IRS...talk about relentless.:boxing:
Question 1.
I haven't put the Punisher emblems on yet, as I'm taking the car back to the painter on Thursday to have him finish pinstriping the flames out. Once he's done, I'll let him figure out where to put them.
Question 2.
As mentioned in my windy and evasive prior post...I don't have a clue what happened. That's it. That's the truth. It just temporarily f@#$%d up. And now it seems to be fine. As mentioned, no cylinder wall damage, or chamber damage or ring land damage. No more smoking at idle, no smoking at wot, other than a bit of a rich condition. Well, as best as I can tell as I try to keep this angry whale in a straight line while standing on it.
But don't despair. It's early in the racing season, and there's surely to be more trauma and drama as the season unfolds. ;)
dreis454 Apr 14th, 09, 3:46 PM Geez & I thought you were hiding something.....
kettbo Apr 14th, 09, 5:37 PM Geez & I thought you were hiding something.....
Are you thinking about gotago's intake manifold rag?
gotago Apr 14th, 09, 5:56 PM As mentioned in my windy and evasive prior post...I don't have a clue what happened. That's it. That's the truth.
Yeah, I tried the truth and even provided photo evidence as to what it was and some wankers still think I left a rag in the intake:sad:
OutCast Apr 14th, 09, 9:28 PM Let's just chalk it up to sabotage.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean I'm wrong. ;)

Dave Apr 15th, 09, 2:07 AM Just use ur imagination Dave you oughta be able to come up with something.:D

cobaltchev67 Apr 15th, 09, 2:11 AM I think it was the midnight piston gnome, the arch enemy of Davesquatch and all things north of Seattle:p
OR
A piece of debris from the body shop rattling around in there....like sandpaper or something that hit the spark plug and made a mess but burned up or exited.
Personally, I think it was the gnome:D
Dave Apr 15th, 09, 2:12 AM OOOHHH, ohhh, ughhhh, HMMMMMM. I'll get back to Ya.
FourEightyNine Apr 15th, 09, 2:19 AM I heard he was caught crossing the border once John kicked him out.

Like c'mon boys, I'm just a hick from the hills. I have no idea what went on here. I just run the bag off this thing and hope for the best. :)
Let's just hope it holds together until I cash in big time on Pinks. :D
