This is the metal backed pad that OPGI sells
Came to me in a box from Dashes Direct
Thought I'd copy my last post in Hughe's thread into a new one for info
purposes.
Well,
The dash pad for my 66 from Dashes Direct.
Fit the contours of the dash perfectly---HOWEVER
3 of the 6 holes in the dash for the studs needed some adjustment with a
'tazmanian devil metal removal tool' (die grinder + deburring bit).
Just some slight adjustments were needed----seems to me that the studs were about 1/16" out of place---generally too close to the cabin side of the dash.
one of the studs was too close and just off center.
Once the holes were enlarged slightly, that pad popped right on, and when tightened up
(better get some speed nuts cause the nuts sent with the dash are machined and will not go on if the dash studs are even slightly damaged), the pad layed flat on the dash with about 1/16" air space all around the windshield side.
This is exactly how my original fit all around---did NOT fit flush with the dash.
There is a little rib sorta thing molded into the bottom of the dash at the windshield side
holding it up just a hair.
So sorry----completely forgot to bring the camera to get a pic----maybe when I get back from my next trip.
All in all----I am content, does not look bad at all
