The second owner of my '69 SS informed me that, when he owned the car in the late 70's, it still had the Duran Chevrolet emblems. According to him, the dealer changed names but he cannot recall the new name. Is anyone inthe Dallas area familiar with this dealer or have any ideas how I can go about finding them?
TIA

UPDATE
I found that Durant Chevrolet is still in existence but does not have records back to 1969.

There is no law that requires dealer to keep records indefinitely. My 1964 Impala was sold in Texas and when I contacted the dealer they said that they are not required to keep records more that 10 yrs. To store records cost money. Nowadays you can burn a lot to a CD but a years worth of cars sales could take up a good size space.
Last year I picked up a used 1992 Silverado. Per the warranty booklet this one dealer sold it new. Well the previous owner keep something in the glove box that wore away the options on the label and I wanted to get something. They could not (or would not) help me. I finally found someone at GM archives who could get me the invoice although it took 6 weeks to get. But before you get to excited, they don't have any records prior to 1977. Seems back when they microfilmed them for archiving, someone decided that they would only go back so far (1977-78) and then all were destroyed once they were on microfilm. They do not keep records for our benefit but because laws make them.
