: correct carb number for a 1970 el camino SS 396??? Resq302 Jul 25th, 04, 9:45 PM I am looking at getting a carb to rebuild for my 70 el camino SS 396. I know a carb # 7040204 would be a correct part number for my car but how about carb # 7040504 FR with a date code of 0480. If I am correct in decoding this, the date code would be the 48th day of 1970? Please let me know about the 7040504 number if that would be a correct #'s matching carburator for my 70 elky ss 396 which was built the 4th week of April.
