The 66/67 metal seat backs have a little bit of grain stamped into them, what is the best way to prep & repaint these without losing all the detail?

Also, what is the best/right kind of paint to paint this with? I think the SEM stuff is for plastic, is it ok to use on metal too or what?

Thanks-
Ben

You may want to go differently than I did but I just took a brillo pad to them and sprayed them with semi gloss rustoleum and they came out great.

Ben a friend of mine here in town just did a set of 67 seat backs....He glassbeaded them with worn glass and low pressure and shot them with SPI Epoxy Primer. The backs had minor surface rust and they look fantastic....As you said you don't want to loose the grain effect.....Good Luck

I think the key to not losing the detail is to dust with light coats of paint.

X2. I use stripper to get the old paint off and to preserve the grain and then dust on light coats
