I have a 67 Chevelle Convertible without AC. I am very interested in the kick panel speaker.

I've searched here and asked some of CAS dealers but and haven't received answers to my questions. I'm hoping someone here with personal experience can answer.

1) The picture shows what appears to be a door to the left of the speaker. I'm assuming this is for the vent. Can you describe how this works? Is it just open or closed? Can the vent be opened or closed or does it just get left open? With a triple black non AC convertible...these vents are pretty critical.

2) Does anyone have detailed specs of the Pioneer speakers that are included with the upgraded versions?

3) Are there speaker requirements that must be met for the kicks that are sold without speakers? like mounting type or depth?

I'm planning on a Retrosound Model One head unit, these kick pannels and the dual voice coil center speaker as my starting point. The addition of an amp and maybe some 6x9s in boxes sitting on the back seat may be added later if needed.

I just ordered the non-AC kick panels without speakers. I will post up some info as I figure it out for future searchers. I've also ordered the dual voice coil 4 x 10 that mounts in the center of the dash.

I'm planning to run these off of the Retrosound unit...so in the next couple weeks I'll be able to post some thoughts.

I just bought the same panels. They look good. The door is hinged and has a twist latch on them. Pioneer speakers look like just speakers to me, but my sons said they are good. That's the extent of my speaker knowledge. Sorry.

I bought the kick panels for my 67 from Ken Harrison auto sound. They do not have the trap door like the ones you linked. They also have the pioneer speakers. They seem to be ok so far but I am not that impressed with them.

I too am running the Retro One radio. Kind of a pain to install and get "dialed in" in terms of the spacing, knobs , etc. I got my in but took alittle more time than you would think.

I have some pioner 6x9;s 4-way in the rear deck. I have the retrosound model 1.2 in the dash. Am pretty pleased with this combo - especially the flash drive on the head unit. guess it could use some more power via an amp or two but if you turn it up it gets plenty loud.

You said you bought your own 6 1/2 speaker to replace the speakers that it came with but the website indicated that the 67 kick panels come with 4x6 speakers. kinda confused.

Do I need to call their customer service to buy the kick panel with out speakers. because online it looks like 67 chevelle non ac ONLY comes with speakers. thanks
