Have a 1965 Custom El Camino from Fremont with the letter "D" after the trim code of 726. I know "A" is bench and "B" is buckets, but what is "D"?

Those early tags' letters seem to match the interior color codes on the dealer order charts and forms. D is red, I always assumed that's what they were but you know that is dangerous.. smile.gif

That seems to fit with the seat colors. I don't have many 64 tags but it seems to be true on the 65 Fremont tags. I know the POP decode info I have for 66 and up shows the interior trim code letter on the card, but since I don't have 64-65 POP decoding info, it never dawned on me to look there.

D is also a Chevrolet seat type code for strato bench seats (style of seat). Not sure what the diffenence.
