Okay, so I am not a Newbie... but I still could use some help tongue.gif

Has anyone ever seen or have a 66 SS Trim Tag coded with an "S" after the interior code?

I have an Aztec Bronze body paint car and the interior is coded 790 ( Aztec also ) but it's coded

790 S

I have many many examples of 66 and 67 Trim Tags and have seen code with "A" Bench Seat and codes with "B" Bucket seat and some that are not specified after the color code b/c they are redundant and the seat type doesn't need to be noted.

But 790 S has me stumped graemlins/clonk.gif 1st week of Dec. 1965 Atlanta Built Car, 4 speed coded, console coded, and rear Speaker coded also.

anyone??

Newbie, huh? :D
Sorry Mike, just another 'A' bench seat car here.
If 'A' stands for bench and 'B' stands for buckets, maybe 'S' stands for 'SPORT' or 'STANDARD'?

as for the code...I don't think that would be a standard "S"

Mike

There is one 66 in the Registry with 731-S and it has head rest option on blue buckets.

Edit: another one, 67 Elky with 763-S black buckets and also has the head rest option

it should be in the handy dandy 66-67 chevelle fact book... oh wait tongue.gif

Any mention of the option for headrests in the dealers book? or maybe in the assembly manual? if it is indeed the headrest option it just adds onto an already unique vehicle. graemlins/hurray.gif

Handy Dandy eh ;) .... yep, that it is, but as is stated in the INTRODUCTION, the FACT BOOK is not the FINAL WORD on 66 and 67 SS but a starting point on a journey of finding out more and more about these unique cars made in 1966 and 1967! It's through contributions of shared information like seen here with Rene that we can make the journey and hopefully stir up more and more interest in this exciting hobby! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

This code is a prime example of the UNIQUENESS... it is not seen often and I have not seen it before. Now it looks like it may just be a code for HEADREST OPTION, but before I would tell anyone that as a statement of truth, I would need to have many more examples of unrestored cars with that Code and still retaining the Headrests in the car. Headrests were for sure an Option, and that is not in question...but the TRIM TAG code would not have been listed in the AIM or a Dealer Book.

Here's a 66 Elky from KC with the -S listed after the trim code. Should also note the S is used in lieu of the normal A (bench) or B (bucket) for seat type as KC normally did.

Well I hate to spoil the party, but my 67SS made in freemont, calif. with 05E date is an orignial headrest bucket seat car (have interior broadcast sheet)and the interior code is just 731 no A,B or S. But then again I heard they did strange things out in california assembly plants.
