When I removed the rotors off of the spindels on my 69 Chevelle the last thing to come off was what looks like a big thin washer made out of what looks like gasket material. I can not find these anywhere. Has anybody heard of these and do you know where I can find them? The only thing I have found on the internet is "69-82 FRONT SPINDLE DUST SHIELD SEAL FOR CORVETTE." It shows a picture and they look like mine, but I thought I would check with everyone on here first before I purchased them. Not sure if I need them or not. Thanks, Brian

i think that was more of a vibration damper than a dust seal.
make something out of some similar material. it's not like the placement of the dust shield is that critical or anything.

Its the wheel seal for your rotor.... shop.advanceautoparts/Wheel-Seal---Front_292_R|GRPWHELAMS___ (http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/partlist_Wheel-Seal---Front_292_R|GRPWHELAMS___)
May I also suggest that while you have the rotors off, Now would be a good time to replace the bearings.

Its not the wheel seal. It is still in the rotor. This is very thin.

Is it a thin cardboard-y gasket? It seals between the dust shield and the spindle? If so, just make one out of a good quality cardboard or cut one out of thin gasket material. They aren't exactly a critical part, but they do help dust from getting behind the dust shield and thus keeps grit away from the back side of the inner wheel bearing seal. Personally, I just cut a pair out of a thin sheet of rubber sheeting I had lying around.

Rich,

Yes, it was between the two. I will do the same. Thanks for the advice.

Would a thin bead of silicone gasket be a bad idea for this area?
