I just bought a 1968 Chevelle SS396 car. I have de-coded most of the Trim Tag, but I am unable to tell what the paints means. Everything I have looked up shows to have a double letter mine is different. Under paint it show's

G2 Paint

What does the "2" mean, I am assuming the "G" is for Ash Gold. The car is a green/gold color, it looks more green than gold. It was repainted, I am going to paint it and I'm not sure of the current color. It also has a black bottom with black vinyl top. Listed below is the entire cowl tag, could someone please help me figure this out? Also what the the 5 in the upper right hand corner mean? Please decode all if possible.

TR 754 G2 Paint

Thanks,
Dave

TR 754 G2 Paint
05A is approx body assembly date of May, 1st week
312559 & 75000B(8?) are plant tracking codes
13837 ~ SS396 2-dr Sport Coupe
BF ~ Fremont, CA
11888 ~ Fisher Body unit number
754 ~ Med. Gold Imitation Leather (bench seat)
G2 ~ Ash Gold, Black vinyl top

The '5' stamped in the corner is found on various years and plant's tags but nobody yet knows (or will tell) the meaning.

Thanks for the help, but where did you find out what the "2" means? I have a couple of books for decoding and none of them show the "2", unless I am missing it. I have
"Chevrolet by the Numbers" and "Chevelle, Malibu & El Camino ID Numbers", neither show it.

Thanks,
Dave

I just found some info and where the 2 stood for black vinyl top. Thanks, sorry for such a dumb question.
