I was able to locate a TH400 tranny with a code of CB. I have a 1970 El Camino SS 396 which has a 1972 TH400 tranny in it. I am trying to find a date and code correct tranny for this concourse resto. Would the "CB" code correspond to a 396 / 402 motor (350 HP) ??? Or was the "CB" code used for the other big blocks??? :confused:

Hi, I have a 1970 chevelle i am restoring, I am also looking for the correct trans. This is what i have came up with using "Chevrolet by the numbers" 70-75. For a th400 in a chevelle with a 396(402) should be either CF OR CW. There are some repro. trans tags on E-bay but they are coded CY which is for a chevelle with a 454 (LS_6) high shift point.Hope this helps, Ray graemlins/waving.gif
