Guys, I have a 69 SS that I thought had a matching numbers engine. The pad has this on it now, TO211JA. I thought it had a partial vin number on it too, but it doesn't now. I had the engine rebuilt by a reputable engine builder and the block repainted. The pad doesn't look altered, but no partial vin is visable. I'm trying to sell the car now and buyers are asking about the numbers. I have the POP and it has on it, 136379A331558 TO211JA F9B27 KJ0228B 1133, can anyone decode these numbers. Also, is there anywhere else on a BB chevy engine that a partial vin is stamped?? Thanks for any help! Steve

TO211JA ~ Tonawanda, Feb 11, 396/325 manual transmission (3 or 4 speed)

Other VIN stamping locations (http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/images/v8engine_stamp_location.jpg) on a BBC. If the VIN is stamped, the partial would be something like "9A331558" or "19A331558".

However, your POP documents the engine as original to the car since it matches the TO211JA on the machined pad, assuming no restamping on the pad.

The rest of your POP is as follows: (http://www.chevellestuff.com/69velle/69-71_pop_decoding.htm)
F9B27 ~ are you sure the "F" isn't a "P"? - P9B27 would make it a Muncie (P), 1969 (9), February (B) 27. The Muncie would make sense as the engine is suffix coded for a manual trans and there are no "F" codes.
KJ0228B ~ (3.55) large ring gear (KJ), Feb 28, Buffalo (B)
1133 ~ depends on the location of each number and sequence (no spaces) but probably:
1 ~ Power Steering [RPO N40]
1 ~ Power Brakes [RPO J50]
3 ~ Radio (specific type not specified - could be std push button [RPO U63], AM/FM [RPO U69], or stereo [RPO J79])
3 ~ Disc brakes [RPO J52]
