My Isky cam calls for these springs but I have a brand new set of comp springs with these specs...can I use the comp springs instead? They are fairly close in specifications.

Here's my setup:

Block: 454 .060 over

Cam: isky 292 megacam 244/244 @ .050
.590" lift using 1.75 rockers 7000RPM Redline

Heads: 105cc Combustion Chamber Chevy Aluminum Bowtie Rect. Port heads (ported)

Pistons: SRP -23cc domed pistons (small dome) Approx: 11:1 comp

ISKY: SEAT PRESS.: 135 @ 1.875
OPEN PRESS: 395 @ 1.225
RATE: 400LBS/IN

COMP: SEAT PRESS.: 111 @ 1.900
OPEN PRESS.: 388 @ 1.200
RATE: 395LBS/IN

Let me know what you think,

Thanks,
Josh

Josh,

The Comp springs will be OK. The specs on these two springs are very close, in fact they might even be the same spring. There is a very slight difference in the pressures, but also a corresponding difference in the installed and open heights as well.

Leave the inner springs out for break in, and we have a standard policy of grooving the lifter bores on all performance flat tappet BBC applications. Proper break in oil like Joe Gibbs BR and a jug of EOS is a must do as well.

Thanks for the help guys. I figured they would be o.k. just wanted to get a second opinion. I had bought those springs for another cam I was going to use with a set of oval port heads so that'll save me a couple bucks and that's what it's all about isn't it???

Thanks again
