A guy came to me to sell his 64 Impala. I am trying to figure out the numbers. On the pad in front of the pass head all there is -- F08I9GA -- What does this decode to?
I can't find the sequence number to see if it matches the VIN. It sould be on the same pad right? If not where? Any help is appreciated.

Decodes to a 283/195HP w/3-spd manual trans out of a 1965 full size Chevrolet. Engine assembly date was August 19th. Partial VIN stamping on the blocks did not start until sometime in 1968 so you won't find one there. Looks like the engine is not original for the vehicle!!! Hope this helps.
