Is there any type of database out there that shows the number of Chevelles produced with certain options or colors, similar to the Marti Report for Mustangs?

None that I'm aware of, sorry. This question comes up quite often.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, after searching the internet extensively for such a database and coming up empty. Thanks for the reply.

Dan Carr's poster does show known and extrapolated numbers for 68-72 models for engine type, trans type, etc but as Don said, nothing known for colors or other factory/dealer options.

See http://www.designscomputed.com/auto_pub/a_body_68_72.html for info on the poster and http://www.chevelles.com/shop/ss_ident.html for some other 'generic' info.

It seems Chevrolet did not break down options by model, they lumped all models in the totals.

There was a list of 1965-1972 option totals by year published in Super Chevy Magazine May of 1995. Somewhere on the web I found this list a few years back but I don't recall where and it could be here on this site.

There is a book called "Chevrolet Production Figures & Options Totals" 1989 1,822 pages Published by Tailfins & Bowties ISBN 0-31793-8770. It is out of print and copies are hard to impossible to find. It did not sell probably due to the size and obvious cost of a 1,822 page book. The author does not want to be bothered with requests so I did not list his name, I think they lost money on it. I have been looking for many years and never seen a copy anywhere. Others have seen it years ago.

I did an internet search several years ago for one and found it at a used book dealer. I was lucky and got it for really cheap - like $15 as I remember. It didn't add a whole lot to what I already had in the form of Chevelle option totals reports, but it did help clear up some mysteries and verify some things.

It did not have any info on the number of cars produced in different colors.

Dan,

I have one of your posters. I like but its rather large and I can't find anywhere to hang it up so its been sitting in a tube in the corner of my office for a few years. Ever consider some other way to publish the data? Something that is more portable for instance.

Thanks Dan and everyone else. Good info!

Now to get my greedy paws on one of those posters. The Chevelle belongs to da wife and it sounds like the poster will be a great addition to "her half" of the garage.
