: Cowl seal and hood alignment

I installed a weatherstrip kit a few months back and have had constant problems with my hood's alignment. The new cowl seal keeps the hood raised in the rear about 1/4". The doors eventually began to loosen up, but not the hood.

The only possible solution I can think of is to let the car sit in the sun with the hood open, shut it, let it sit and repeat.

Anybody have a similar problem?

Did you try to reajust the hood hinges? If not that should help

Yes, they are brand new hinges and springs also.

When I close my hood, I have a 1/4" gap at the rear corners of the hood because the rear of the hood sticks up.
I always got in the habit of gently pushing down the rear corners of the hood after closing so it fit right (last 18 yrs.)
When I finally got the car painted, I replaced the hood hinges in an attempt to remidy this problem; it did not work.
I still have to push down the rea corners of the hood after closing, and that was before I ever put any rubber under the hood.

Perhaps we just need to adjust it down an extra little bit, and let the weatherstip and hood bumpers push back of that little bit of slop?

I had the same problem with my 70. at one time there was a thread in the body section on how to ajust the hood hinges. if you raise the rear of the hood hinge it will lower the rear of the hood
