I have new door handles and locks installed with new keys.
The key will move the lock knob up and down but even with the knob down the door is not locked.
What is missing?
Thanks

Was there a little arm sticking out off the lock? I just fixed one of mine ('68).
Had the same problem on drivers door. Found the little arm in the bottom of the door.
It gets clipped to the lock cylinder.

Thanks, Jeff. No, I didn't find anything. Last body shop that had the car put the locks in.
Anyone know the name of the part?
Would it be a door lock pawl?
Thanks

Herbie,
Yes, if I understand right, the pawl is missing. You will need it and the clip that goes with it.
I was able to install the pawl and insert it into the door. There it will engage (slip over) another "arm" that is attached to the linkage that operates the latch and also the lock mechanism.
Been looking for a diagram but haven't found one yet.....

Jeff,
Thanks so much. That's what I thought but wanted to make sure before I ordered. I get it ordered today.
Doors close really well and as I said the key will turn the lock knob up and down. Trying to button up the little stuff on this smile maker.
Appreciate it.

I have looked at all my regular haunts and a few morre and ran across 1 pic, and it is a very bad one.
But on E-bay under chicago muscle cars there is a door handle linkage and with it a pic of the linkage in the door.
I am preparing to leave a week from today for some work overseas.
I will try and get a picture of mine posted for you before I leave.
I do have a restoration book that may have a pic that I can scan in. I'll check this evening when I get home.
If the other door is working correctly you may take off that door panel and be able to see what you are missing, and how it goes together.
Best of Luck Jeff

Thanks, Jeff.
Both doors are the same. Same shop changed both door locks out along with glove box, trunk, and ignition due to the shop before it lost my keys.
If you find that picture, I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks.
