: fan change?

My 67 has the LWP and an Alumnitech radiator and also the shroud.
I have a four blade fixed fan right now. No overheating problems.
I cannot run a clutch fan....that is out. No room.
Question is: A friend has an old big GMC dump truck for scrap that has a 5 blade fixed fan with two of the fins close together and the other three spaced evenly apart that he will give me. Seems that the blades have more angle to them then the 4 blade. Also, have a lead on buying a 6 blade fixed fan at a good deal. Seems that either one would pull more air for stop and go traffic. So far I haven't had to deal with that. Just open road driving.
Is it worth the upgrade and which one would you choose and why? or...is there something better? can't go the electric fans at this time.
I would really appreciate any/all replies.
Thanks as always,

I'd just wait and see what summer brings. Wish I had 10 bucks for each time I bought something "I might need" and didn't. My favorite expression: "If it ain't broke; don't fix it".

My $0.02

That expensive radiator ought to cool with no fan...

IF it cools ok at idle, then upgrading the fan is probably not necessary. Once you are on the road and above 35 mph the ram-air should be enough.

Even a great AL rad still needs decent airflow thru it when at idle in traffic on a hot day .

I say that because without decent airflow thur any rad at idle even a good AL rad will eventually heat up on a hot day in traffic too,it will just take longer to heat up in traffic on a hot day then a less efficient radiator would in the same situation.

So with that said id say its definately worth upgrading from the stock GM crappy 4 blade low angle/pitch fan to the 5 or beter yet the 6 blade fan both of which have a higher pitch angle on the blades for pulling in more air/cfm thru the rad for better cooling in traffic.

The stock gm 4 blade fan is not very good at all when it comes to pulling decent airflow thru the rad at an idle in traffic .

So if you can get either of those fans cheap(esp the 6 blade fan) why wait to find out if it runs hot in traffic, get it and install it now and be done with it. It's always better to have a little better cooling when in traffic with better airflow thru the radiator IMHO.

Thanks for the replies. I live in a very rural area and have driven around 800 miles since getting back on the road. Thing is even in the "city" here, that's a laugh, there is no real stop and go traffic.
I plan to drive to Gainesville for the Peachstate show and maybe to Nashville this summer. I can get the 6 blade for $30.00 including shipping. I am always thinking and trying to improve my ride.
I will go ahead and order.
Thanks again

If you want the 5 or 6 blade fan, jsut go ahead and get it. You can always keep the original 4 blade unit and. if things don't work out, go back to the stock fan.
Also just my $0.02.
