I HAVE BOUGHT A 70 WITH OVER LAP QUARTER PANELS , THE PAINT CAN WATE BUT WILL OVER LAP PANELS POP OF OR CRACK THE PAINT ON ROAD? AND IS IT BETTER TO SEEM THEM ON? THE MAN THAT HAD THE CAR REPLACE BOTH SIDE. CAN I GET AWAY WITH THIS TILL I CAN AFFORD A NEW PAINT JOB. JOE PS EVER THING ELSE IS STRaight.

If they were done correctly that's how skins are applied by most body shops. An inch all around to lap weld them. Filler can crack if not done correctly certainly.

You can use a cutting wheel and cut threw both quaters and butt weld them together ( learn the process befor attempting). That seams to be the better way in your situation. Body shops look for quiky ways so they can get to ther insurance bumper painting and over charging.( most) Body shops now a days dont seem to want to put in the quality work on old cars. They dont see money in them. They tell Jose to ondelay, rapidow, Geter dun. If you take it to a bodyshop put in writing what you want and all specifics ( mask here and ther, protect under carriage etc. etc.) and have him sign. Or Jose may overspray all over hell, and or get welding schlagg on your windows. I am victim of Jose's no comprenday, no suavey. Sorry if I seam bitter.:)

Not bitter but ture, If iam going to spend my hard earn money, Ill need a hard earn paint job. Thats fair, Now days to get good quality paint job it cause
