I found a 69 chevelle over on the west coast guy seems pretty honest so far here is some of the ino.
engine block:3955272
paint code-53
says rear gear is 3.55
tag:136 atl209474
tr 756
says tach has 5500 rpm redline
4 speed with counsel bucket seats
power disc brakes
any opinions on it could it be a 375 hp car? or 350 hp car
i have read th3e debate over the tach if it is a 350 hp car then the tach is 5500 and the 375 hp it is 6500. Thanks for any help

3955272 1969 396/402 265, 325, 350, 375, 2&4 bolt.
Look on the front pad and get the numbers.
Can't really tell you much from the numbers provided. In 69 SS was an option and VIN or Cowl tag numbers will only tell you if it came with a v8 or 6.
paint code-53: Glacier Blue
tr 756: Black coated fabric bucket seat
tag:136 atl209474
Some #'s are missing
should be 13637atl1209474
13637: Malibu, 2 dr., Coupe, 8-cyl
atl: Atlanta final assy plant
1209474: Unit Number

engine block:3955272 is the same cast number I have in my Chevelle which is a 375Hp BUT, That doesn't mean that is the same HP rating on that engine your looking at.
All the cast number says in my book is the year IS correct 68-69.
Post the deck number stamped on the right front of the engine where the front of the head meets the block and I can look it up for you .

I will have the guy check it for me appreciate all the help. I guess even if it was not it would probably still be a descent deal...Thanks Sean
70 LS6 454/450 gobie beige
68 SS 396/375
67 SS 396/350 triple black
I don't believe that there were ever any 6500 redline tachs. The correct redline for a 1969 396/375hp is 6000.
I believe that 68/69 had the same tach redlines.
307 and 350 = 5000 redline
396/325hp and 350hp = 5500 redline
396/375hp = 6000 redline
Also, steve says your vin # is wrong, but he is thinking that you stated the VIN # from under the windshield, when in fact you have the numbers from the cowl tag. They are correct as you stated.
Steves #'s are wrong. There should not be a 1 after atl.
The VIN on the car you are describing should be 136379A209474
