I need to remove the pedal assembly in my 66. It is disconnected front and back but I can't manuever it out. It hits the fuse block on the firewall and the back of the speedo at the other end. Do I have to move the speedo or possibly the dash out a bit to get it out?

TIA, Kirk.

Why are you removing it?

I'm swapping out the auto setup for manual.

Do you have the pin all the way out? After I got the brake rod clevise and return spring disconnected and the pin out, my old brake pedal came out very smoothly. Nothing else was removed or loosened except the brake light switch, which I removed to avoid breaking it.

The whole assembly is loose. The pedal is the only thing attached to the bracket at this point. I can move it around, I just can't position it to get it out from under the dash.

The bracket is the same for both manual and auto pedal set ups. Just remove your auto pedal and bolt in your clutch and brake pedals. You will need a longer bolt and the bushing set for the clutch pedal.

I am swapping my pedal setup with a fellow TC member and we thought the brackets were different. You're 100% sure they're the same Phillip? If they are, it'll make things a little easier.

I converted a 64 El Camino with just a pedal change and just did the same with my Nova. The clutch pedal hangs out side the bracket. When you trade the bolt and bushings will need to exchanged as well. Also if you have power brakes retain the brake switch bracket bolted to the pedal and put it on your new pedal. You can swap photos of the bracket with the other member and compare to be absolutely certain.

Thanks Philip, that will save me a bit of grief. I just wish I had checked into it a little more before unbolting the brake booster and master, plus all the other stuff that was in the way.

BTW, how do you like that TKO with your 3.73's? Which OD ratio did you go with?
