: Gas Gauge pegged full

I installed a new gas tank, the old sender did not work at all, the gauge always pointed half full. The new sender makes the gauge read above full.

Could this be a bad ground or worse, a bad fuel level sender?

Certainly sounds like a ground to me.

Nope. The typical "gauge is pegged past Full" is an OPEN between the gauge and the sender; or an OPEN between sender and ground.

The open can be either a broken wire or a terrible connection--corrosion or whatever.

Look at this way with the gauge always showing above a half tank you will never need gas. Actually I agree with Schurkey.

I guess I will check the wires and connections. Thanks.:beers:

I was thinking the same thing, I would save a lot of money on gas.:D
