Hi all, I just re-mounted my re-skinned door and noticed that the bottom front corner is curled (angled) inward. I don't know if curled is the right word because it is pretty subtle and I actually didn't notice it until I got it next to the (factory) rocker. It seems like starting from about 2 inches back from the corner the skin starts angling inward. This was my first re-skin and except for that I am quite happy with the results. My questions are what did I do wrong, and how can I fix it? Nothing has been tacked in place yet, so I think it probably can be fixed (hopefully). Any help would be appreciated!

Nice job for a first door skin if that's your only fit problem. I think what you've done is bent the corner of the shell in a bit , probably from "over dollying", pushing up too hard, this is common. You should be able to just tap it back out with the door still installed, if not, a straight edge will give you an idea how your fit will be.

Thanks Ron, I'll give it a try. I am a little afraid to put a crease or some distortion into the skin at the corner. So I'll go slow. It is amazing how much the skin conforms to the contour of the door shell! I am glad this is a fixable problem.

Hey Mike, I don't think you'll put a crease in if you just tap it lightly. Maybe try using a piece of wood held flat on the fold-over you did. A little skim of two part putty won't hurt if you need to (or you could metal finish it). Ron.

Oh, and maybe support the outside of the panel with your hand or something.

take a flat piece of metal, or a chisel and pry the door skin against the rocker, or, tap it out with a hammer.

I tried prying (gently) against the rocker and was able to straighten it out most of the way. I'll try tapping it out next. Thanks again for all of the advice!
