Is this the oil sender unit? i am trying to put gauges in and need to remove this if it is. BTW how is it removed?

That's it. You will need an oil sending unit socket. It will do the trick.

Yes that the one. They usually aren't in there too tight. Just grab it with channel locks etc.

That fricing thing isnt budging with Channel locks. Have to see if I can find a socket What size is it? Canadian tire has one for a bunch of different sizes.

1 1/16" I also see why people put a 45 degree fitting on the sending unit.
Well at least if someone searches now they can find it.
